IBCM Students Visit Henci Wetland for World Wetlands Day

Img

Yesterday, our IBCM students had an inspiring educational field trip to the Henci Wetland / Ligatina e Hencit, organized in cooperation with EC Ma Ndryshe, to celebrate World Wetlands Day and raise awareness about the importance of protecting natural ecosystems.

The Henci Wetland has been a protected area since 2014, classified as a Special Protection Area for Birds, covering nearly 110 hectares. This unique and valuable ecosystem is home to:

  • 4 species of fish

  • 50 species of vascular plants

  • 2 species of frogs

  • 78 species of birds

Students explored the wetland through:

  • Thematic lectures on wetlands, biodiversity, and climate change impacts, delivered by Prof. Dr. Ekrem Gjokaj and Prof. Asst. Afete Musliu

  • Guided nature walks combined with interactive discussions and observations in the field

  • Discussion on the importance of communities in protecting natural resources and preserving biodiversity

If you want field trips like this and hands-on learning experiences, join the Environmental and Management Technology program at IBCM!

A big thank you to EC Ma Ndryshe for making this meaningful and engaging field trip possible and for their continuous contribution to environmental awareness.
