Dzenita Shabani, an IBCM Environment and Agricultural Management student, was selected to go on a 5-day training in Italy by her internship supervisors at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development (MAFRD). She was chosen on the basis of her outstanding performance, and since returning Dzenita has had her internship extended. All IBCM students complete two mandatory internships as part of their studies. These internships are full-time, and last for a period of three months, meaning that the get real work experience and a chance to put the classroom-based “theory” in to “practice”. Dzenita, whose skills, capabilities, and willingness to learn caught the attention of her internship supervisors at MAFRD, was invited to attend a five day training on “Organic Farming and Biological Agriculture” at the CIHAEM IAM Bari College, which is in the city of Bari in the Apulia region of Italy. Dzenita told us that this experience has really helped her to grow both personally and professionally: “During this trip, apart from the trainings held in CIHAEM IAM College in Bari, we also visited Foggi laboratories to observe different analyses, such as: vine analysis, water, soil and also mixtures of some other plants. We then visited Napoli’s local private advisory service, (LAG)-London Association Group, which is a consulting company that helps farmers of that region by providing them with advisory services in management.” Following her return from Italy, Dzentia was asked by her managers in the Ministry to continue her internship contract for three additional months, with a monthly payment. There is great potential for her to continue her work with the ministry, which is a huge motivation as she completes her studies. Dzenita has expressed her deepest gratitude to her IBCM professors, especially Mr. Ekrem Gjoshaj, for their unconditional support, and has highlighted that all her success and the wonderful experiences had in the last couple months are all thanks to IBCM! IBCM is extremely proud of Dzenita, and wishes her even greater successes in the future!
