IBCM students participate in Youth Peace Camp in Strasbourg, France

From 30 April to 7 May 2017, IBCM Marketing and Management students Aleksandra Lazarevic, Marko Jovanovic and Kostadin Stankovic were in Strasbourg, France, to participate in the Youth Peace Camp 2017 organised by the Youth Department of the Council of Europe.

The Youth Peace Camp engaged over 70 youth leaders from conflict-affected communities in dialogue and conflict transformation activities based on human rights education and intercultural learning. It relies on a positive experience of living and learning together with the view to motivate the participants to act as facilitators and peer leaders for positive change in their communities and organisations.

The students became involved with the Youth Peace Camp through their active participation in local NGOs (Aleksandra is a volunteer in Synergy and also a leader in W/team, Marko is president of the Youth Council in his municipality and Kostadin is Project Assistant in the Center for Social Engagement).

Aleksandra said “Events like the Youth Peace Camp are important in helping to create and improve relations among facilitators and youth leaders from all over Europe. During the week, we learned a lot of useful things which will help in our development, such as human rights, gender equality, not using hate speech, writing projects, etc. We enjoyed the warm atmosphere at the event in Strasbourg, the pleasant facilitators from different countries and also all the people that we met and shared our experiences with”.
