The ceremony marked the 2nd Bachelor graduation at the International Business College Mitrovica (IBCM). Thirty three students at the south campus and thirty four students at the north campus received an IBCM degree, as well as a double degree from the Lillebaelt Academy for Professional Higher Education in Denmark, in their field of studies including: International Sales and Marketing, Environmental and Agricultural Management and Public Service Management.

There was a real sense of excitement and celebration among both venues’ packed audiences, consisting of graduates’ family members, local representatives, IBCM faculty and student support staff, as well as local press. IBCM’s graduating students were met with rapturous applause as proud family members waved and snapped photos as the graduates filed into the ceremony.

Deputy Director, Charlene Miller, welcomed attendees and opened the ceremony. She commended the graduates’ dedication to study for the past 3.5 years, and pointed to the world of opportunity that now waits for them.

IBCM Director, Stefan Schandera, then addressed all present, asserting that:

In the future, the young and fast growing population of the region will be a key asset and advantage for the region within Europe.

“I am convinced that it will be your generation, and it will be your very specific knowledge and expertise, that will help enterprises in the region to overcome the constraints of a limited market, as well as to identify and to address new market and new product opportunities in all geographic directions.”

Graduating students were then called onto the stage to receive their diplomas. Once all had been presented with their certificates and returned to their seats, students were invited to re-position the tassel on their graduation caps to the left side, marking the change from candidate to graduate. Applause and cheers rang out, and it was a very proud moment for everyone in the audience.

During the ceremony an award was also presented to the student on each campus demonstrating the highest grade average, with Jelisaveta Marjanovic and Adnan Junuzovic picking up prizes. Additionally there was a ‘Best Teacher’ prize, awarded on the criteria of most effective teaching method and availability to students. At the north campus ceremony the award went to Jelena Djokic, while at the south campus Nermin Begovic was honoured. Each award was met with real appreciation and cheer from the assembled crowd.

A cocktail reception followed each event. The north campus guests were also treated to a performance by local dance troupe, Urban Dance Group, whose music and dance ensured a particularly lively cocktail reception for our graduates.

Huge congratulations to all IBCM’s new Bachelor graduates!
