IBCM Students for International Earth day

Students of IBCM, many from the Environmental and Agriculture Management spur, in collaboration with the Municipality of Mitrovica – Major’s office, and other high schools and primary schools, took the initiative to mark the International Earth day by cleaning the city of Mitrovica. The message we intended to leave was that taking care of the Earth, starts by tidying and then keeping it clean through the whole year.

The starting point of the activity was set at the Municipality of Mitrovica where all the public schools and NGOs gathered voluntarily to join this event and to get the directions for each group which area/street to cover. During this phase, the Municipality’s Major, Mr. Agim Bahtiri and his team welcomed and thanked us for being part of this activity.

IBCM’s task was set to be the main street from the Municipality towards the main bridge over the River Ibar, including ‘Kej’ park, near the river. Our students were equipped with the necessary tools for this activity from the Municipality officers, and started work from 10:00 AM and finished around 12 noon.

During this sunny day, after we finished the task of litter picking, the students spent some time relaxing at the Riverside Bar to have coffee, which was accompanied by a lively discussion about the Earth and the wider environment, about the methods of taking care of it and also just thinking fondly about some of our favourite natural landscapes in the region.
